130 Years of St. Joseph's history continues. 📜 In 1951, construction of St. Joseph’s at its current location on Thomas Road began. The location of the new hospital, formerly home of the Central Arizona Dairy Farm, was controversial at the time because it was too far north of central Phoenix, and “out in the country.” The Sisters of Mercy shooed cows away for the groundbreaking, which was covered by Phoenix’s first TV station, KPHO (now azfamily 3TV CBS 5). Since then, St. Joseph's has grown into a nationally recognized center for quality quaternary care, medical education and research, most recently celebrating
