Having outgrown its original downtown Phoenix location, St. Joseph’s begins a formal campaign to raise money for the construction of a new hospital in 1947. Frank Brophy leads the campaign with great backing from the community, and Del E. Webb Construction Company earns the massive building contract with a low bid of $4.8 million.
