Using CT angiograms to track plaque progression over a year, the study revealed no association between LDL cholesterol levels and plaque growth. Instead, the strongest predictor of plaque progression was the existing plaque volume. This challenges the conventional view that high LDL and ApoB is high risk in all populations.
