🇨🇦💔 my song for Canada Day 2021. Our history is unclean to say the least and painful to be educated on. But so important to take in. There is no place in the world I would have rather grown up, and with the pain and recognition of the hurt and injustices that line much of our past and present, I also hold gratitude in my heart. Thank you Canada for giving me the freedom of physical safety with your statement that health care is as much of a human need as food and shelter. Though you haven’t always lived up to this message, you were the first to expose me to the belief that humanity can live as one, multicultural and openly connected group. You taught me that to disagree is a sign of a healthy and open relationship and not a reason to separate from each other. There is more work to be done and I believe in our ability to do it together.
