I’m currently in Puglia, which reminded me of one of the most common questions I’m asked: how it compares to the Amalfi Coast. I’ve visited Italy more times than I can count…and while both the Amalfi Coast and Puglia are breathtaking coastal destinations, they offer completely different experiences. That said, there are a few things Puglia simply does better.
1. Authenticity & Local Flavor
Amalfi is stunning, no doubt, but it’s also filled with more tourists than locals these days. Puglia, whilst still welcoming plenty of tourists throughout the year, still feels deeply connected to its roots. Here, you’ll wander through quiet whitewashed villages where nonnas sit outside making orecchiette by hand. You’ll dine at family-run masserie (farmhouses) where everything on your plate was grown steps away.
2. Beaches Where You Can Actually Relax
