Last weekend we traveled to Chicago to personally present Artist Tenzin Gyurmey Dorjee (pee_in_the_bottle) the inaugural annual Rubin Museum Himalayan Art Prize, which was awarded to him in September. The award is an unrestricted $30,000 cash prize that is the largest international award in support of contemporary art related to the Himalayan regions. It was presented to him at wrightwood659, where two of the artist's works are currently featured in our newly-opened exhibition of Reimagine: Himalayan Art Now.
