Last week, Washington supermom and fellow Jessica testified before the #WashingtonState Senate Early Learning & K12 Committee, where she shared her personal experience with the rising costs of childcare.
Jessica and her husband work full time, so access to quality, affordable childcare is essential for them to get by; however, like so many working families in Washington, they're feeling the staggering 74 percent increase in the median cost for child care over the last decade.
As Jessica powerfully put it, "While parents struggle with high costs, child care workers are also struggling without the living wages they deserve, and as a result, it's hard for child care programs to recruit and retain qualified staff. Passing SB 5500 would deliver the relief working people need by modernizing the way our state sets child care reimbursement rates."
