🐾 Patty and Canine Companions therapy dog Fiske look forward to visiting the
#SanQuentin Rehabilitation Center in Northern California as volunteers, a weekly trip that began just over a year ago.
For the past few years, the cacorrections has been transforming the traditional prison system to a more unique facility, focusing on improving public safety through rehabilitation and education. This transfer and new program focus, however, caused a great deal of stress and anxiety among those who are incarcerated. The rehabilitation center decided that therapy dog visits would greatly benefit individuals through this process.
For many incarcerated individuals at San Quentin, it's not uncommon to have spent the last 20 to even 40 years there. But, it's a rarity to experience any form of physical touch, let alone the ability to take in the love, comfort and joy that
#dogs bring.
Fortunately, Fiske is able to offer his companionship and more because of the new transformation in the prison ...
