Our #facilitydogs make a difference in our communities every day - but very often behind the scenes. Meet #facilitydog Roddy and his handler, Kelsey Getchell, with stjosephshealthnj in New Jersey. Kelsey explains that Roddy's been "such a wonderful addition to the hospital, for both patients and staff." A young patient had a challenging time getting his blood drawn and requested Roddy to accompany him for their next visit. As they got ready for the bloodwork, Roddy walked over to the patient's father and put his head on his lap - surprising the emotional father who felt supported by this unexpected reaction by Roddy. When it was time for the blood draw, the son shared that he felt brave with Roddy and sat in the chair with Roddy sitting between his legs with his head on his lap. Because of this, he was able to stay still and got through it without a tear or any fear. They now request Roddy to be at the appointment every time, as his mother calls her son's braveness "a miracle." 😊 ...
