Having worn hearing aids behind my ears my whole life, I have always disliked attention being drawn to my ears because I can be self-conscious about the aids. And I really don’t like it when anything touches my ears. It is probably my greatest “pet peeve.” When I was on the road with USA Volleyball this last summer I received a text from Kelli, my wife, that my daughter Amelie had begun comforting herself when tired or upset by holding onto my wife’s ears.. “No problem,” I thought to myself, “I will just teach her that daddy’s ears are off limits when I get back home.” 🤦🏼‍♂️ . As you can see, baby girl won this battle. She loves ears and will hold not only mine and my wife’s, but also our son’s ears, those of our friends, and even of her baby friends. I am sure she will outgrow it eventually, but for now I try my best to not let it bother me as I know it is just her comforting herself. And thankfully, she hasn’t pulled on my hearing aids too much! . . #deafathlete #deaf #hardofhearin...
