You guys loved hearing about VELVET a few weeks ago, and how our staff thinks it’s one of the most “Criminally Overlooked” wallpaper patterns in the Porter Teleo collection (go look for the green video about 8 reels back if you missed it 💚), so we figured we’d extend the series to give some of our other underestimated favorites their time in the spotlight!
This next one is an oldie but a goodie. One of Porter Teleo’s very first hand painted wallcovering patterns, FLUIDITY gets its cascading quality by first dripping a richly pigmented ink onto an unpainted background. The panel is set aside for a few moments - to give the ink time to settle into the fibers of the paper without drying completely - before it is then brushed with a top coat of ink.
This allows the splattered pigment to spread ever so gently out from its original placement, leaving fractal-like watermarks and subtle brushstrokes to add depth and organic movement.
