Just when you think 2024 can't get anymore insane. It does! Last night I was on my way home from an overall underwhelming chase day in South Dakota when I noticed someone reporting the Northern Lights in New England. I pulled over, casually setting up my camera because it was still kind of sunset when my friend healey_photo called me and asked if I was shooting right now. I confusingly said "yeah? But it's too bright out still". To which he goes "NOT ITS NOT!" and at that moment I looked down at my LCD screen to huge pillars of aurora with distant lightning flashing along the horizon! I hung up, and not even 5 minutes later a huge fireball meteor shot across the sky at the moment the aurora were dancing and lightning flashing! This year has been BEYOND exhausting mentally and physically. But, these moments right here even on the crappiest of chase days are why I keep digging deep to keep going and keeping myself available regularly to capture these moments in time. I never want 2024 ...
