I largely think the fact that I developed an after school practice routine when I first started pitching helped me get good at pitching early. I can still remember it today: walk home from school, eat a snack, set up my moms catching stuff, turn on the timer, play catch do the drills we did at the lesson, put stuff away, do homework, eat dinner.

Routines can be magical at not only setting you up for success physically but also helping you stay calm in the biggest pressure situations.
