Arizona Monster 300, Night 2:
As the world sleeps, the trail begins to shift. The climbs get steeper. The rocks seem to pulse with life. Rain falls in the desert, and snow dusts the summit of Mt. Lemmon, high above at 9,000 feet.
Sleep starts calling louder—but so does the need to move. To stay warm. To reach the next aid station. To hold the pace for 300+ miles.
It’s no longer just about finishing. It’s about making every single step count. You tune in to your body’s basic needs—food, water, a few stolen minutes of sleep in the dirt while your pacer stands watch.
The craving for rest grows, but you learn to set it aside. You’ll sit eventually. You’ll get the kiss, the bed, the warmth of home. But not yet. Not until the miles are done and the story is complete.
Because Night 2 is when reality begins to bend. The light of day holds the rules in place. But in the deep dark, under stars and cloud and hallucination, the desert turns wild. Unpredictable. Alive.
Stay warm out there, run...
