The gates are coming down! 🏗️ ⁠ ⁠ Today, 5,600 pounds of iron were lifted away at The Breakers. Years of salt air, rain, and winter ice have taken their toll on these iconic gates, so they’re off to Connecticut for a full makeover—sandblasting, zinc thermal spray, and marine-grade paint. Damaged parts will be replaced. ⁠ ⁠ For now, visitors will use the Shepard Avenue entrance.
