Coming to UConn as a shy freshman in the peak of the 2020 pandemic, I struggled making friends, getting involved, and maintaining the academic standards that I set for myself throughout high school. So much so that I withdrew my housing, and did online school for the second half of the year. However, I had no idea that coming back my sophomore year would change the entirety of my remaining experience at UConn. I discovered my organization, Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. and immediately felt drawn to learning more about its values that so deeply resembled my internal ones of inclusion, sisterhood, and leadership. Through my sorority, I learned how to speak up for myself, to speak up for others, and to create spaces of inclusivity that may be lacking on our campuses.
