5th graders from South Lake Elementary School had an unforgettable day at the C&O Canal with two ranger-guided programs! 🚤 During Transportation and History, students took a mule-drawn canal boat ride, locked through a historic canal lift lock, and dove into problem-solving to understand 19th-century transport on waterways. 🌊 Next, in Weathering and Erosion, they got hands-on with models and hiked to the Great Falls overlook to explore the power of nature’s forces on the landscape. A big thanks to the NationalParkService rangers for making learning come to life for these future park enthusiasts! #C&OCanal #EducationInNature #HandsOnLearning #StudentAdventures #NationalParks #GreatFalls #ParkRangers #WeatheringAndErosion #OutdoorClassroom #PublicLands #TrustThursday 📸: NationalParkTrust
