On April 9 at approximately 9:14 a.m., special agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation responded to the Alabama State House in Montgomery following the discovery of three suspicious letters addressed to lawmakers. A fourth was sent to Gov. Ivey's office. Agents identified a person of interest and launched an investigation. John Watson, 54, of Dothan, was arrested and charged with four counts of dissemination of child pornography. Watson, a former driver license examiner with ALEA's Driver License Division, was placed on mandatory leave the same day the investigation began. He was booked into the Houston County Jail without bond. ALEA said additional charges may be pending.
