We’re rounding off our
#Kelvin200 celebrations by unveiling a new
#VR museum dedicated to Lord Kelvin’s groundbreaking inventions, part of our Museums in the Metaverse project. Try it for yourself this week at the uofg_arc!
This VR exhibition features high-resolution 3D scans of Lord Kelvin’s groundbreaking inventions - from submarine telegraph cables to his famous mirror galvanometer - showcasing items from the unique collection of the hunterianglasgow, the oldest public museum in Scotland. See these historical treasures up close, including many items not usually on public display, before the Museums in the Metaverse platform launches in the spring of next year.
The Museums in the Metaverse platform is supported by £5.6m in funding from the ukgovofficial Innovation Accelerator programme, led by weareinnovateuk on behalf of weareukri. It is being developed by the University of Glasgow in partnership with immersive learning platform edify_ac, histenvscot and nationalmuseumsscotland.
