The circular hub of Ladd’s Addition on Saturday was packed from curb to curb with bikes, unicycles, rollerskaters and other wheeled contraptions as hundreds of people of all ages took part in a miles-long ride in the heart of Southeast Portland. But when the hourslong ride finished, there wasn’t any single winner — and none of the riders even had to leave the block for the event, which ran 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Instead, the participants of the eighth annual Ladds 500 — which has the tagline “Let’s do something stupid” — were there to have fun, dress up in themed costumes and try to ride around the Ladd Circle Park 500 times, either individually or as part of a team.
