#earthday2020 ! In 1975, the student board of Poly Royal chose the theme “Becoming Aware of our Environment” and used the open house weekend to showcase the work students were doing in their classes and organizations to make a positive impact on their environments.
This was the poster designed for Poly Royal by the student board. The poster doubled as a brochure that was mailed to prospective students, alumni, and community members. At the time, Cal Poly were organized into seven schools (now our six colleges) and each school had a special symbol designed to represent their “unique characteristic.” Themed “environmental events” included demonstrations of a car designed by engineering students to run solely on sewer gas, models by architecture students of buildings that require less fuel to heat and cool, and displays of what students were learning about their lives and environment.
