Although the origins of American graffiti are often attributed to New York and Philadelphia in the late 1960s and ‘70s, an earlier history emerged in the barrios of Los Angeles decades before. Chaz Bojórquez (chaz_bojorquez ) is widely recognized as one of the trailblazers of this unique ‘cholo’ style. His iconic and legendary sinister skull, known as Señor Suerte (Mr. Luck), has been his signature image, prominently showcased in both his street art and gallery works since the 1960s.
The video captures Chaz as he tags the iconic Señor Suerte skull onto a newly released edition of his book, titled “Chaz Bojórquez: 50 Years of West Coast Graffiti,” published in 2019.
Discover more of Chaz’s captivating artworks as we unveil Renaissance & Rebellion, our highly anticipated book published and printed in Rome, Italy by drago_publisher. Join us on June 17th from 4-8PM at Eastern Projects gallery for the launch event.
