Friedes, 30, was riding her bike in the bike lane on Spruce Street headed westbound on July 17, 2024, when a man — later identified as Michael Vahey — struck her with his vehicle, according to police. Vahey, 69, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including vehicular homicide, DUI and involuntary manslaughter, a docket filed in a Philadelphia court shows.
