For the first time in two years, Nu Nu's Kitchen did not serve its popular barbecue skewers at the River Park Farmers Market.
The absence of Nu Nu's and other Asian food vendors follows a decision by the market's management to exclude them from participating.
The River Park Farmers Market, a Tuesday night staple for 26 years, hosts over 100 food vendors. Last week, Lance Kashian, the company that owns and manages River Park, decided to exclude Asian food vendors for business reasons.
"You know you can't help but feel kind of discriminated," said Lee Moua, who owns Nu Nu's Kitchen with his wife, Nu.
They have been serving Asian-fusion street food from a pop-up tent at the market for two years. "River Park has been a home for us for the last two years. They've given us an opportunity to showcase our stuff, our food."
