If there’s a fanbase you’d want to meet at on a random Tuesday afternoon, it’s Louisville’s. Toasts of bourbon in the parking lot at 2pm, poem readings by senior club staff at the tailgate, and an incredible atmosphere inside the stadium thanks to the city’s eclectic soccer community. One that welcomed us with open arms at every turn. Whether it was fans skipping their workday to check out the bus, club legend tophcity stopping by to say hello following the game, or diehards loucitysting jessicamcg79 and Chris Lemmel bringing out the mythical LIPAFC trophy for us to see it way after the match had ended, we really couldn’t have wished for a better game day experience. As we pack up and prepare to head to our next destination, we leave Louisville with our hearts full—the city is undeniably, a bastion for what American soccer should be.
