Thirteen years ago, at age 67, Judy Benjamin found out she had Alzheimer’s disease. She’d lost her mother to Alzheimer’s 20 years prior. Judy knew what the diagnosis meant, but she refused to resign herself to it.
Fast forward 13 years, Judy found a doctor who believed there was a way to preserve her cognitive function and even regain what she’d lost. As his “patient zero”, Judy followed a strict protocol.
Today, at age 80, Judy is healthy, vital… and setting out on a 3,000 mile walk to share her story and to bring hope to others facing Alzheimer’s or other forms of cognitive decline.
During the next six months, Judy is walking from the beaches of San Diego, California to St. Augustine, Florida. And she’ll be wearing
#XeroShoes on her journey.
We’re proud to walk alongside Judy’s grand adventure and what it represents — that living a full, healthy life is possible at any age! Follow her adventure at judywalksamerica or
