A former University of Alabama football and NFL player, Isiah Buggs, was charged with and pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges in Tuscaloosa last year got them dismissed this week. According to court documents, two dogs on his property were discovered in a severely neglected state in late May. One of those dogs, a pitbull mix, wound up being euthanized. The other was entered into the care of Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter. On April 10, Buggs' lawyers provided the State of Alabama with a recorded phone call between Buggs, a man named Otis Lee. During that phone call, Lee admitted he was supposed to take care of the dogs while Buggs was out of town but did not. Lee has not yet been charged with animal cruelty but could wind up facing charges.
