I wanted so badly to read this book in a weekend. However, I couldn’t get myself to pick it up because I felt in my spirit it would be tragic. I think bookinitwithahtiya was right when she said “this not a book you can zoom through; it makes you take your time with it”. I’m only on page 54 and I feel so many things. Mostly anger, sadness and frustration. I’m pissed another Black girl has to take matters into her own hands and this is only the beginning of the book! I know this will be a slow read for me but I promise I will finish. The writing is good and story is already so… detailed and specific. Shoutout leilamottley for writing a debut novel that I know is gonna wreck me.
