This book is not some self help book per se. There aren’t specific steps you take to become this body positive radical, rather Taylor gives you things to consider. How has media shaped how you view your own body? What about the bodies of those around you? Where did you get the notion your body was bad? When’s the first time you were body shamed?
Taylor introduces the term body terrorism and does a thorough job of explaining and examining the ways body shame/terrorism appears in our lives. She also has some really good analogies that I think anybody would be able to resonate with.
Overall my biggest takeaway was the small section on giving yourself grace. In the book she says you’re not gonna be this body shame radical an hour after reading the book rather it’ll be a process. I think that’s something I need to apply to all aspects of my life. I’d recommend this book ...
