God is Change. Parable of the Sower was a sad but interesting adventure (for lack of better words). The story follows 17 year old Lauren Olamina as she tries to navigate the crumbling world around her. THERE ARE SO MANY PARALLELS TO THE REAL WORLD IN THIS BOOK. I really don’t understand how Octavia Butler knew but SHE KNEW (the foresight, my gosh). I really resonated with the book tho. So much of Lauren’s life was surround by and committed to community, survival and freedom. She tried to help as many people as she could while understanding her own limitations. I find that to be true in my own life. I want freedom for all Black people but know that I am just one person. It is a collective effort and I’m not even sure I’ve nailed down who my community is or how to get that going. As Lauren has shown me, it’s process, a lot of trial and error and might begin with people you’d least expect. I hope mine doesn’t come with the tragedy she experienced tho. I’d recommend this read so anyone...
