Sligo Rovers got a big, and much needed, three points on Friday night with a 4-0 win away to Waterford FC. They were two goals up inside the opening 15 minutes and when Waterford were reduced to 10 men on the hour, the visitors made sure of the win with two more goals to move them onto seven points. They overtake Cork City at the bottom as the Rebels went down 1-0 to Bohs in Dublin. The only goal of the game arrived in the 85th minute via James McManus. Elsewhere Derry had a vital away win over Galway United who had to play with 10 men for the majority of the second half. The 3-2 win lifts to within five points of leaders Drogheda who drew 2 all with title holders Shelbourne, while in the Dublin derby St Pats and Shamrock Rovers also played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
