i needed a few days to properly digest this film before putting any thoughts down.  think from dusk till dawn meets the mafia, set in mississippi during the jim crow era.  ryan coogler is a genius. everything he creates carries weight — every shot, every line, every moment exists for a reason. it’s difficult to capture the depth and significance of this film in words; it’s truly a “see it to understand it” experience.  the cinematography is breathtaking. golden light through trees, sweeping sunsets, intimate foregrounds — every frame feels intentional. the pacing is unmatched. we’re given space to breathe, to absorb, to reflect between scenes, like the film knows when you need a moment to process. it’s cinematic poetry.  the duality of michael b jordan’s characters floored me. smoke and stack are so distinct in their presence and energy, it’s easy to forget they’re portrayed by the same person. the character work is phenomenal. i even caught myself feeling like one was attractive a...
