The National’s Tuesday front page: From mourners outside the Vatican to world leaders, tributes poured in for Pope Francis, who died aged 88.
“Pope Francis was a transcendent voice for peace, human dignity and social justice. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, service and compassion for all — especially those left on the margins of life or trapped by the horrors of conflict,” said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The pontiff died of a stroke and irreversible heart failure, Vatican doctor Andrea Arcangeli said in a death certificate released on Monday.
