🎨 Meet our 2025 True Blue Fellow, Purity Mutua, and her project, Mashujaa Wa Bahari! 🌊 At 22, Purity is bringing Kenya’s marine life to the spotlight through Mashujaa Wa Bahari—Swahili for “Ocean Heroes.” She’s curating the country’s first online gallery of illustrated Indian Ocean species, using scientific illustration to foster appreciation and awareness of marine biodiversity. Her goal? To use art as a tool for science, creating a lasting visual archive that speaks to researchers, educators, and everyday ocean lovers. Purity also plans to host hands-on illustration workshops for coastal artists and communities—empowering others to merge creativity and conservation, and bridging the gap between art and science in Kenya.
