Health equity isn’t just a goal—it’s a mindset. Amanda Ortega, now one of our dedicated cancer nurses, brought that mindset to Botswana, where she spent five weeks serving in rural clinics. She helped with well-baby checkups, gave injections, screened for hypertension, and educated patients on how salt-heavy diets were impacting their health.
“As a nurse, I’ve learned to listen, support, and advocate for those who need it most, knowing that every patient’s story is more than what’s seen on the surface,” she said.
With limited access to clean water, electricity, and basic care, these communities faced daily health challenges—yet Amanda showed up with compassion and purpose. Amanda, you inspire us. Thank you for making the world a better place. 💙
