Earlier this week, the Supreme Court of South Carolina unveiled the official portrait of retired Chief Justice Donald W. Beatty (‘79), honoring his extraordinary legacy of service to our state and the judiciary. We are proud to celebrate Justice Beatty—not only for his decades of judicial leadership, but also as a distinguished alumnus of the Joseph F. Rice School of Law. Pictured with him were fellow USC Rice Law alumni: ⚖️ Chief Justice John W. Kittredge (‘82) 🏛️ Governor Henry D. McMaster (‘73) — who also presented Beatty with the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor, recognizing a lifetime of service and achievement.
