Claude Strother wasn’t expecting much action when he slipped into the Alabama woods on the afternoon of April 18.
The 82-year-old turkey hunter had an hour to spare and figured he’d pass it by working a few calls from his Wilcox County property. What he got instead was the wildest hunt of his life, when a bobcat launched itself at the back of his head. The force of the blow knocked Strother forward, leaving him dazed. When he sat back up, he caught a glimpse of the bobcat trotting off through the brush. Shaken and bloody, he pulled out his phone and snapped a few selfies to show his family. Strothers didn’t mention in the video whether he was concerned about rabies or planned to get a round of rabies shots. Regardless, he says he’s going back to the same spot to hunt again.
