GIDDY AND #AISDPROUD: McCallumChoir students pose before singing in the AISD Elementary Music Memory event with the Austin Civic Orchestra at the PAC Saturday morning. The choir sang three cuts of different classical composers’ songs and Senior Nathan Howard sang two cuts of pieces by composers Mozart and Bizet. The music memory competition consists of various elementary schools competing by having to guess the songs of various composers by listening to specific cuts performed by the choir and orchestra. Sophomore Fiona Kirsch thinks that the choir performance went well because the elementary school students were able to identify the majority of the music performed. “I was also amazed at their understanding and memory,” Kirsch said. “It’s a real privilege to listen to all of the excerpts and see the excitement that all the kids had.” Kirsch’s favorite part of the whole thing was getting to watch Howard sing solo and the kids’ reactions. “[I liked] getting to watch Nathan perfor...
