#TACOSHACK: The varsity softball team delivered a huge 9-1 win over the Anderson Trojans in a game that meant they were or weren’t going to be playoff bound.
“Everyone had really good energy the entire time,” junior Zara Cacci said, “probably because it was the deciding game for if we went to playoffs or not.”
The extra game, the third district meeting between the two rivals, was necessary because the teams split their district games and finished tied for the final playoff spot at 7-7 in district play.
In the win-or-go-home game, Mac got on the board quickly with one run in the top of the first inning and followed it up with three more in the top of the second. On the defensive side, pitcher Natalie Myrick came out striking out the side to shut the Trojans down in the second inning. In shutting out the Knights in the first two innings of play, Myrick earned five of the six outs via strikeout.
