Here’s a little soliloquy that no one asked for: Coming back to Istanbul has me all nostalgic about the very first time I came here, which was actually my fourth date with my now-husband. You can watch the video for the full story, but wandering these streets today, I was doing some reflecting. Back then, it felt a bit crazy flying across the world to meet someone I barely knew. But my gut instinct could tell he was kind, steady and made me feel safe (and that hadn’t exactly been my type historically). If I had let fear, doubt or the noise in my head win, my life could look so different right now (the 🦋 effect is a crazy thing). Being here five years later, now married & buying rugs for our flat, I’m so thankful I took the chance. So here’s a little reminder to take the chance, shoot your shot (and don’t overlook the nice guy!)
