SpongeBob SquarePants - Krabby Patties: IRL — The Paramount creative team was tasked with reimagining Mr. Krabs’ famous Krabby Patties from SpongeBob SquarePants in a real-world context. One key guideline: the late creator, #StephenHillenburg, firmly stated that #KrabbyPatties contain neither meat nor crab, but the exact recipe remains a mystery. While some advocated for playful interpretations using materials like Play-Doh or yarn, I took a different approach. Drawing on Hillenburg’s suggestion that Krabby Patties might be veggie-based, I grilled up four iconic Krabby Patty specials over a Fourth-of-July weekend including the Crying Johnny, the Jelly Patty and, my favorite, “Good Night, Sweet Pickle.” Channeling the visual language of food photography, I captured these dishes in a sexy “food porn" shoot, paired the video with a seductive music track, and recorded my best Barry White impression for narration.
