There was a point in Will Walden’s young life when he thought he wouldn’t make it. After struggling as a drug addict and alcoholic for nearly 12 years, he finally hit the lowest point one can hit when he thought his time on Earth was up. Yet, as Will has said, God had other plans. He spent nearly a year at the Shepherd’s House, a drug treatment facility in Lexington, before he found the Stable Recovery program at Taylor Made Farm. The program is designed to work with people recovering from substance abuse and teach them a new vocation in the Thoroughbred business, working hands-on with the horses as they start a new chapter in sobriety. Since taking out his trainer’s license in 2022, he has become a multiple graded stakes-winning trainer and now, will send out his first GI Kentucky Oaks contender this season with Bless the Broken (Laoban).
