Simply put: if you have the defensive mentality of needing to know exactly where the ball is gonna be (in, out, high, low) before you commit to swinging, you’ve already lost On the flip side, when you’re in the box, ready to do damage, confident… you’re just praying for a strike. Any strike. Fastball, curveball, inside, outside, high, low… doesn’t matter. You know you’re gonna get to it and barrel it. The first one is a scared mentality, trying not to get beat, trying to not swing and miss. Making sure it’s a strike before you swing. Too late! The second one… that’s confidence, damage. Remember you are on OFFENSE as a hitter. The best I’ve ever hit in my career was when I had this exact approach. “If he throws a strike, he’s f*cked”… it literally didn’t matter the pitch or the location. If it was hittable I was smashing it. Trust you’ll be on time, trust you won’t swing at uncompetitive pitches. Of course you’ll mess up. But you have to go down swinging with intent to bang. B...
