An
#UberEats driver who reportedly took a wrong turn and accidentally crossed into
#Canada was detained and deported to
#ElSalvador. It’s one of several cases that has immigration rights experts concerned people are being deported without due process.
#RicardoPradaVasquez, a 32-year-old Uber Eats driver from Venezuela, reportedly went the wrong way while delivering a food order in January. He accidentally drove onto Detroit’s
#AmbassadorBridge, the one-way toll bridge that connects the United States and Canada.
After crossing the border, Vasquez was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol authorities and deported to El Salvador. Reports show he had permission to enter the country through the CBP One app and was waiting for an appointment with immigration. Because he left the country, officials said his status was invalid.
