#PeopleofJSU: “‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.’ Joshua 1:9 is my favorite scripture. This verse really sticks with me and helps me step out of my comfort zone and try new things. My relationship with God helps me a lot with making decisions in school and having discernment through challenges. When I came to Mississippi, I didn't know anyone. I have no family here and never visited the state before. Regardless, I wanted to be courageous and put myself out there. Taking on the director role for JSU’s ‘Welcome Week’ last semester was such a highlight for me. I coordinated the stage design, graphics, attire and decorations. Managing quotes and talking to different vendors and campus partners was exciting for me. For the past two years, I also worked in operations for the athletics department.
