The Atlantic Puffin After crossing very wet, windy and sandy marshes in southeast Iceland I ended up at a very isolated headland called Cape Ingolfshofdi, where I was finally able to photograph the Atlantic Puffin. Puffins make their way to Iceland in May to breed and leave in late August. There are so many interesting facts about puffins - they return to the same burrow each year to nest, puffins share parental responsibilities, they are monogamous and can fly as fast as 55mph. The adventure to photograph these birds was probably the highlight of this trip for me (close tie with the volcano).
