Just over a year after launching my podcast, I did it. I got to sit down with the two people who not only gave me life, but have also saved my life in countless ways. I learned a lot about my parents during this conversation!! How they overcame so many obstacles (especially as an interracial couple in the early 1970’s), why they instilled certain values in me and my brothers, navigating military life, why they never lost faith in me when it felt like everyone else did, and even their different interpretations of what went down the night they met way back in 1970 😂❤️ I am indescribably grateful to have gotten the opportunity to sit down with my mom & dad, and am so happy that my kids and grandkids and great-grandkids will forever understand the greatness of Mona & Gary Steele long after the 3 of us are gone.
