No eyes, no problem! Meet our blind Chaco Golden Knee Tarantula at Butterfly Pavilion. Donated to us in 2024 from Pikes Peak College, this special tarantula uses the sensitive hairs on her body to navigate her surroundings. Without any physical limitations, she’s even part of our walking program, where she joins the other “Goldies” in gently walking across guests’ hands!
While she shows no signs of regrowing eyes, there’s always a possibility she could regain sight during future molts. That said, natural mutations like this are common and a natural part of evolution. This unique adaptation is just one of the many things that make this Goldie so special! For a chance to meet our eyeless Chaco Golden Knee Tarantula up close, visit the Rosie corner at Butterfly Pavilion. Learn more at
