What’s up guys?! My name is Anna Thomasson, and I’m this year’s Department of Communication Graduation Speaker!! My years at NC State’s COM Department taught me so much about communication, yes, but also—they gave me ample opportunity to find joy and be present in the little moments. To learn how to listen well, laugh often, and carry joy that isn’t dependent on circumstance.  In my speech, that’s what I’ll be talking about. Unexpected joy—the kind that shows up mid-monsoon, the kind that catches you off guard, the kind found in long walks and climbing trees. The kind that’s steady because it’s based on where you’re looking, not where you’re standing. Forever thankful for the little moments here at NC State that impacted me in a big way.
