Germany's spy agency has classified the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) as "extremist", enabling it to step up monitoring of the country's biggest opposition party ,which said the move as a "blow against democracy".
Co-leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla have said that ‘The AfD will continue to take legal action against these defamatory attacks that endanger democracy,’ in a joint statement.
